Indeed they do! And I loved reading how Bill Hunt couldn't rave enough about the transfer:

Revenge of the Sith is Lucasfilm's second full-length, live action film shot on high-definition video. As a result, like Attack of the Clones before it, Sith arrives on DVD with a straight-digital transfer. No actual film was involved - the anamorphic widescreen DVD image was created directly from the final digital master files for the film. So how does it look? In a word... jaw-dropping. Some others that apply: mind-blowing, ridiculous, stupefying (but in a good way). The quality here is spectacular. There's excellent contrast and shadow delineation, and an almost shockingly rich color pallet with stunningly vibrant shadings. The image clarity is so good that it conveys tremendous depth-of-field. The processing that's been done to mimic the grain structure of an actual photochemical print renders a surprisingly film-like image (although as I noted above, the CG imagery is so over the top that its beauty is still a bit artificial looking). Given that there's so much complex motion and action going on in almost every frame, there IS some light compression artifacting visible from time to time. But it's definitely minor, and you're likely only to notice it on a very large projection screen. In any rate, there's just no doubt that this transfer is right at the cutting edge of what the current DVD format can do with 480p video. It's an extraordinary visual experience. To call it reference quality would almost be an insult. I pitty the fool who buys this disc and DOESN'T watch it on at least a 50" anamorphic display.

If there was ever a time that I really wanted a home theater system--65" 16:9 TV, at least 5.1 surround, etc--this is it!

Why don't they ever talk about if any scenes were added? Like QuiGon at the end?

Non-disclosure agreements?

Still good to see another reference disc, though I wish they'd drop that redux Phantom Menace on us.

And no digital Yoda in V and VI !!!! woot!!!1111!

One other interesting item to report from the event: McCallum expects there to be 22 Young Indiana Jones Chronicles DVDs in all, 3 of which have been completed. The discs will include some 66 historical featurettes, now in production. Work has been ongoing for about 18 months on the Young Indy DVDs, with about another 18 months worth of work yet to be done. If all goes well, the plan is to tie the DVD release to the theatrical debut of Indy IV

"For those wondering about the brief Qui-Gon scene that was in the original script, McCallum said at the press event for the DVD release that it was only ever completed in animatic format and was later dropped - Liam Neeson's voice was never recorded."

"Q: Are there going to be any cool promotions from other retailers besides Wal-Mart?

Ward: Yeah, we've got great promotions lined up with all of our retailers. With Wal-Mart, there's a special disk that will come with the DVD that will have some great content to it. With Best Buy, we have a really wonderful promotion. I just can't talk to you about it because it's a surprise and it'll blow it."

I wonder what it is. I personally hope it's Teenage Mutant Turtles II karaoke album.

Oh my....

If Best Buy offers something potentially as good as Wal-Mart....

This could both be great and suck at the same time....

Q: What happened to Qui-Gon?

Rick McCallum: Actually, there was a thought. It was more like a "thoughtette". It was just a quick assembly of little sequences when Yoda is thinking. And George [Lucas] originally thought, "Well maybe it would be nice to have Liam [Neeson] come in." And then we did a little voice-over without Liam just to check it out and see what it would be like, but it just didn't really seem to have the impact that we had originally planned on, so we never shot it. We never went anywhere with it.

It would be cool if they packaged some DVDs with this:

I don't agree. I have no interest in the 3D poster. As digitalfreaknyc essentially pointed out. I'm intrigued by the possibility of a slip box for the prequel trilogy, as Jim Ward hinted, but I don't know if that would pull me away from the documentary offered at Wal-Mart. This could shape up to be the toughest call for where to purchase that I've personally experienced. Going to be most interested to check the store ads the week of release and see what each place is giving out as a bonus.

lol...why the day after Xmas? I just returned an unopened copy of the Aviator becuase I bought the other version at Wal-mart with the bonus disc. Just got a store credit. No biggie. Same thing will probably happen here.

That's (obviously) a boot. A guy in my star wars community actually made it and it's a pretty cool "documentary" if you're interested...but i don't think that kind of talk is allowed here.

Not sure if this has been posted somewhere in this thread before, but it is mentioned in an IGN article that:

[Lucasfilm] were planning to put together some cross-promotional programs that involved slip cases for the prequel trilogy

So it would seem that a box for those that bought each of the prequel trilogy releases separately might be happening. I hope it is something that retailers like Best Buy or Future Shop will be offering as a bonus offer...

Maybe it's just me, but shouldn't the big marketing push for the Episode III DVD be underway already?

It's just a couple of weeks away from release date, but I haven't seen any TV spots or any big web ads or anything. Only a couple of not-so-special displays for pre-orders in a store. Maybe I don't watch enough commercials.

Anyone seen anything else yet?

The only thing I have seen is a commercial for M&Ms Halloween candy and besides some SW references in the actual commercial, at the very end they show the cover of the DVD and announce it is coming out Nov. 1st.

Does a new Star Wars film on DVD really require a huge marketing push?
